Hospital showcase for school artists is wowing patients10 January 2019 (by admin) |
A Wigan Infirmary corridor has been transformed into an art exhibition courtesy of our students at Rose Bridge Academy.
The partnership began when Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust photogapher Helen Cunliffe attended her daughter Isabelle’s parents’ evening and saw the high standard of the art being produced by key stage Level 3 and 4 pupils. Helen then took the idea of exhibiting the art work, as part of WWL’s Arts for Health programme, to facilities manager Nick Bastow and Stefan Chilvers, faculty leader at Rose Bridge. It has taken almost a year for the exhibition to organise but it was worth it according to Helen who said: “It’s nice for the patients to have something uplifting to look at when they’re in hospital.” And the pupils were said to be delighted at such a platform for their work.
